The 2014 Delhi Auto Expo will see Hero MotoCorp showcase a new bike which it has developed and built in close collaboration with Erik Buell Racing, the company’s American technical partner. The brand new sport bike will come with a 250cc engine that Erik Buell has specially designed for Hero. The new bike – which has not yet been named – will be the first in a line of similar sporty motorcycles to roll out from Hero’s sheds in the upcoming months.
Hero MotoCorp has also formed tie-ups with a lot of other popular firms for the development of new engines and advanced technology for its motorcycles. A few firms that Hero has alliances with are Ricardo, Engines Engineering, Magneti Marelli and AVL Austria. These associations are a direct result of Hero’s split from long-time technological partner Honda. Hero still continues to use a few of Honda’s engines in its bikes, but will stop so completely from 2014.
Apart from this new bike, other bikes that Hero MotoCorp will showcase at the Auto Expo to be held in February 2014 are the Hero Karizma ZMR, the Karizma R and the new Impulse, which will come with a bigger engine. These three motorcycles will give an added zing to Hero’s already-attractive Indian two-wheeler portfolio. Hero has already revealed details about the Karizma R and the Karizma ZMR at a dealer’s conference in Macau, but the prices have not yet been announced. The Karizma R and the Karizma ZMR will, in all probability, be launched officially at the Auto Expo, along with a declaration of the official prices.
